Who we are
This policy applies to Chapters Planner, the Chapters website, and the Chapters Android and iOS apps. Chapters Planner is the developer and service named in this policy. Privacy questions can be sent to chapters.planner@gmail.com. If your email app does not open, use the desktop webmail options on our contact page.
Data we collect
- Account and profile data: name, email address, password credentials handled by our authentication provider, phone number, account role, email verification state, business name, vendor category, profile and portfolio links, availability, and notification preferences.
- Wedding and planning data: partner names, wedding date and location, budgets, tasks, schedules, program flow, inventory, vendors, appointments, payments, seating plans, notes, custom fields, moodboards, and invitation designs.
- Guest data entered by couples or guests: names, contact details, invitation codes, RSVP and arrival status, party size, meal choices, dietary information, accessibility information, seating, and notes.
- Vendor and marketplace data: public vendor profile details, products, portfolio content, reviews, proposals, linked-client records, and access requests.
- Communications and files: messages, email notification content, message attachments, vendor documents, moodboard images, vendor product images, and invitation assets that you choose to upload.
- Billing data: billing contact and address, plan and subscription status, and Stripe customer/subscription identifiers. Chapters does not store complete payment-card numbers; Stripe processes payment credentials.
- Technical data: session cookies, push subscription endpoint and encryption keys, browser or WebView user agent, device/network diagnostics, IP address and request logs processed by our hosting providers, and performance measurements.
The mobile app does not collect contacts, precise location, microphone recordings, advertising identifiers, or an inventory of installed apps. Photo or camera access occurs only when you choose an upload control and grant the device permission.
How we use data
- Authenticate accounts and maintain secure sessions.
- Provide wedding planning, RSVP, marketplace, messaging, billing, file upload, notification, and collaboration features.
- Connect couples, partners, guests, and vendors only through features they use or invitations they accept.
- Prevent abuse, enforce access controls, diagnose failures, and improve reliability and performance.
- Send transactional, verification, invitation, message, and account emails. Marketing email is not sent unless separately requested.
- Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes.
Chapters does not sell personal or sensitive user data and does not use it for third-party targeted advertising.
When data is visible or shared
Private workspace records are available only to authenticated users authorized for that wedding, message thread, or vendor relationship. A couple may intentionally share guest RSVP links and invitation pages. Vendor directory profiles, visible vendor products, reviews, and their associated catalog images are intended for marketplace viewing.
Invitation images are publicly retrievable because they must load for recipients using a shared RSVP link. Do not place confidential documents or unrelated sensitive information in public vendor or invitation assets.
If you add an image hosted on an external website, that source URL remains subject to the external host's visibility and privacy practices. Chapters cannot make an externally hosted public image private.
We use service providers only to operate Chapters:
- Supabase: authentication, PostgreSQL database, and file storage.
- Vercel: application hosting, delivery, operational logs, and privacy-oriented performance measurements.
- Stripe: subscription billing and payment processing.
- Resend/SMTP infrastructure: transactional email delivery.
- Browser and operating-system push services: delivery of notifications when enabled.
- Google Play, Apple, and Expo: app distribution, updates, and platform-level diagnostics governed by their own policies.
Data may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a business transfer with legally appropriate notice and safeguards.
Security
Chapters uses HTTPS, secure authentication sessions, database row-level security, role and wedding-membership checks, private storage with time-limited signed links for private attachments, restricted trusted domains in the mobile WebView, and service credentials kept on the server. Access is limited to the data needed for each feature.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. Please use a unique password, protect invitation links and guest codes, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and workspace data while the account is active and as needed to provide requested features. Expired invitation records may be retained for security, reconciliation, and abuse prevention. Operational logs and provider backups may remain for a limited period under provider backup cycles.
Permanent account deletion is available in client and vendor Settings and through our public account deletion page. Deletion removes the authentication account and associated live Chapters data. For a primary couple account, this includes the wedding workspace and its guest/planning data; a linked partner account can delete its login without deleting the shared workspace. Vendor deletion removes the vendor account and catalog while historical client contact records may remain as unlinked records in the couple's private workspace.
Stripe and other processors may retain transaction, fraud-prevention, security, or legal records when independently required to do so. Chapters does not represent account freezing as deletion.
Your choices
You can update profile and planning data, disable email or push notifications, remove supported moodboard, document, invitation, and product uploads, revoke pending invitations, and delete your account from Settings. Account deletion also removes associated message files. Guests can update RSVP information through their invitation flow or ask the inviting couple to remove it.
You may request deletion of selected content or data categories without deleting your account by emailing Chapters. If your email app does not open, use the desktop webmail options. Identify the data you want removed and provide the email associated with your account. Some account, security, transaction, or legal records may need to remain as described above.
To request access, correction, or other privacy assistance, email us from the address associated with your account. We may verify identity before acting on a request.
Children and policy changes
Chapters is intended for adults planning weddings and wedding-service businesses. It is not directed to children. Do not enter a child's personal data unless you are authorized and it is necessary for wedding planning.
We will update this page when data practices materially change and revise the effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a new use begins.
